Patna (Bihar) [India]: Former Union Minister RCP Singh announced the merger of his political outfit ‘Aap Sabki Awaz’ with Jan Suraaj, led by political strategist and activist Prashant Kishor, on Sunday. The move comes ahead of the crucial Bihar Assembly elections later this year.
While speaking to media, Singh reiterated his commitment to Bihar’s development and expressed optimism about the state’s future under the Jan Suraaj platform.
“…People of Bihar have a lot of hopes from Jan Suraaj… Our target is not small; we will work for the development of Bihar. Bihar has a very rich history,” he said.
Singh, a former IAS officer and ex-minister in the Narendra Modi cabinet, brings decades of administrative and political experience. His inclusion in Jan Suraaj is being seen as a boost to the relatively new platform.
Welcoming Singh, Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor hailed him as a respected leader with deep knowledge of Bihar’s political and social landscape.
“RCP Singh is like my elder brother and one of the best persons who understands the society and politics of Bihar…”
“Very few people have such extensive experience in both governance and grassroots politics,” Kishor added.
Speaking at a joint press conference, Kishor also addressed the larger political context and said that Bihar needs fresh leadership.
“Bihar is at a crossroads and needs a new political force committed to the principles of clean governance and inclusive development. Bihar deserves an alternative that talks about education, jobs, and long-term planning–not just caste and contracts.”
The merger announcement comes as Bihar gears up for its Assembly elections scheduled for October–November 2025. The ruling NDA alliance—comprising BJP, JD(U), and LJP—aims for re-election, while the INDIA alliance is set to challenge Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership.
Earlier, on April 16, the Election Commission of India initiated its preparations with a national-level training program for over 200 booth-level agents held at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management in Delhi.
