Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]: On the occasion of Mother’s Day, Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt shared an emotional tribute to his late mother, the legendary actress Nargis Dutt, by posting touching throwback photos and a heartfelt caption on Instagram.
“I miss you every day and love you maa, happy Mother’s Day,” he wrote, reflecting on the deep bond he shared with his mother, who passed away in 1981.
Nargis Dutt, a celebrated icon of Indian cinema, is best remembered for her unforgettable performance as Radha in Mother India (1957), a film that received an Academy Award nomination and earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress. She later won the National Film Award for Best Actress for Raat Aur Din (1967), and was honored with the Padma Shri in 1958.
Her personal life was as inspiring as her career. Nargis and actor Sunil Dutt fell in love during the filming of Mother India, especially after he reportedly saved her from a fire on set. The couple married on March 11, 1958, and went on to become one of Bollywood’s most respected duos.
Beyond films, Nargis made significant contributions to society. She co-founded the Ajanta Arts Culture Troupe with Sunil Dutt and was the first patron of the Spastic Society of India. In recognition of her social work, she was nominated to the Rajya Sabha in 1980, becoming only the second actor ever to receive such an honor.
In cinematic news, Sanjay Dutt is set to appear in the upcoming film Baaghi 4. The first-look poster reveals him in a chilling avatar—seated on a gothic throne, holding a lifeless woman in a blood-stained gown. With a fierce gaze, blood-smeared shirt, and disheveled hair, Dutt’s look teases a dark and intense character. The tagline reads: “Every Aashiq is a Villain.”
Directed by Kannada filmmaker A Harsha, marking his Bollywood debut, and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the Nadiadwala Grandson banner, Baaghi 4 is slated for release on September 5, 2025.
