Hindu Temple In Surrey Vandalized For The Third Time, Canadian Journalist Claims

British Columbia [Canada]: A Hindu temple in Surrey, British Columbia, has reportedly been vandalized for the third time, with Canadian journalist Daniel Bordman sharing footage of the incident on social media. Bordman claimed that the Lakshmi Mandir was graffitied and that one of the temple’s security cameras was stolen in the early hours of Sunday morning.

In a post on X on Monday, Bordman explained that two suspects were seen defacing the temple walls and stealing the security camera around 3 a.m. He stated that the local Hindu community was upset and felt unsupported by both local authorities and political leaders.

“I went to the Lakshmi Mandir in Surrey that was vandalized last night by Khalistanis. This is the 3rd time it has been vandalized. I spoke to management and the devotees and they do not feel like the police or the political establishment cares at all,” Bordman wrote.

The Canadian journalist’s video highlighted the frustration within the community, as Bordman reported that the temple management felt that authorities were not taking the issue seriously. The incident also raised concerns about Khalistani extremism in Canada, which has been increasingly linked to the targeting of religious institutions.

In addition to the Lakshmi Mandir, Bordman also reported a similar incident at the Ross Gurudwara in Vancouver, further exacerbating concerns about religious site vandalism.

The Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce (CHCC) condemned the vandalism at Laxmi Narayan Mandir and urged swift action against the alleged perpetrators, calling it an act of Hinduphobia.

“We strongly condemn the vandalism of Laxmi Narayan Mandir in BC by Khalistani extremists. This act of #Hinduphobia has no place in Canada. We urge swift action & ask all Canadians to stand united against hate. Silence is not an option. #CHCC #StopHinduphobia,” the CHCC posted on X.

Meanwhile, Chandra Arya, Member of Parliament for Ottawa Nepean, also condemned the attacks and urged both Hindu and Sikh communities in Canada to demand urgent government action against Khalistani extremists.

“The attacks on Hindu temples that began several years ago continue unabated today — this latest graffiti on the Hindu temple is yet another chilling reminder of the growing influence of Khalistani extremism. Well-organized, well-funded, and backed by significant political clout, Khalistani elements are brazenly asserting their dominance and successfully silencing Hindu voices across Canada,” Arya wrote.

Arya also referenced the vandalism at the Ross Street Gurdwara in Vancouver, where pro-Khalistan slogans such as “Khalistan Zindabad” were spray-painted, noting that extremists had also targeted Sikh institutions.

“It is time for the Hindu-Canadians jointly with the vast majority of our Sikh-Canadian brothers and sisters to rise with urgency and demand immediate, decisive action from authorities at all levels of government. Silence is no longer an option,” Arya urged.

As the Khalistani movement continues to fuel division and violence, the calls for political and police action grow stronger from all sides of the community.
