Amit Shah To Visit Raigad Fort On Shivaji Maharaj’s Death Anniversary; Political Discussions On Guardian Ministers Expected

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit the historic Raigad Fort today to pay tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the occasion of his 345th death anniversary and to mark the centenary celebration of the renovation of Shivaji Maharaj’s mausoleum.

Amit Shah, who arrived in Pune yesterday, will visit the memorial of the Maratha warrior king at Raigad Fort, where Shivaji Maharaj passed away in April 1680 due to health-related complications.

The visit comes amid political turmoil in Maharashtra over ongoing debates about the legacy of Aurangzeb and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Shah is expected to hold key meetings with Mahayuti alliance leaders during his visit.

According to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, Amit Shah is likely to visit NCP state president Sunil Tatkare’s residence for lunch, where Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde are also expected to be present.

“Amit Shah is likely to meet NCP state president Sunil Tatkare, who invited him to lunch. Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis are expected at Tatkare’s residence to meet Shah and likely to discuss the issue of Guardian Minister of Raigad and Nasik,” said Pawar.

The meeting is expected to address internal alliance tensions, especially over the appointment of BJP’s Girish Mahajan as Guardian Minister of Nashik and NCP’s Aditi Tatkare as Guardian Minister of Raigad. The decisions have reportedly sparked disagreements between Shiv Sena, NCP, and BJP leaders within the Mahayuti coalition.

Pawar clarified that alliance partners would discuss the issue with Shah, hinting at attempts to ease intra-alliance frictions.

Later today, Amit Shah will also attend the 75th Foundation Day Celebration of the Gujarati weekly Chitralekha in Mumbai’s Vile Parle, further highlighting the Home Minister’s packed schedule during his Maharashtra visit.
