Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Varanasi on Friday to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth over ₹3,880 crore, marking another significant milestone in the transformation of his parliamentary constituency.
In keeping with his vision of enhancing road connectivity, PM Modi will launch several key road infrastructure projects. These include:
- A road bridge between the Varanasi Ring Road and Sarnath
- Flyovers at Bhikharipur and Manduadih crossings
- A highway underpass road tunnel on NH-31 near Varanasi International Airport, worth over ₹980 crore.
The Prime Minister will also focus on power infrastructure, inaugurating two 400 KV and one 220 KV transmission substations along with associated lines across Jaunpur, Chandauli, and Ghazipur districts. Additionally, he will lay the foundation stone for a 220 KV substation at Chaukaghat and a 132 KV station in Ghazipur, as well as upgrades to Varanasi’s city electricity distribution system—totaling more than ₹1,045 crore and ₹775 crore respectively.
For security and law enforcement, PM Modi will inaugurate a Transit Hostel at the Police Line, new barracks at the PAC Ramnagar Campus, and lay the foundation for administrative buildings and a residential hostel in the Police Line.
In the education sector, PM Modi will inaugurate:
- Government Polytechnic College in Pindra
- Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Government College in Barki village
- 356 rural libraries
- 100 Anganwadi centres
He will also lay the foundation for:
- Renovation of 77 primary schools under the Smart City Mission
- A new Kasturba Gandhi School building in Cholapur
To bolster sports infrastructure, PM Modi will initiate the construction of:
- A synthetic hockey turf with floodlights and a spectator gallery at Uday Pratap College
- A mini stadium at Shivpur
Further, the Prime Minister will inaugurate:
- Redevelopment of Samne Ghat and Shastri Ghat at the Ganga River
- 130 rural drinking water schemes under Jal Jeevan Mission worth ₹345 crore
- Improvements in six municipal wards
- Landscaping and sculpture installations at heritage sites
PM Modi will also launch several projects under urban and rural development:
- MSME Unity Mall for local artisans
- Infrastructure development at Transport Nagar, Mohansarai
- A 1 MW solar power plant at WTP Bhelupur
- Community halls in 40 gram panchayats
- Beautification of various parks in Varanasi
In a symbolic gesture, PM Modi will also distribute Ayushman Vay Vandana cards to senior citizens, a first in over 70 years. He will present GI (Geographical Indication) certificates for Varanasi’s famed local products including tabla, painting, thandai, and tiranga barfi.
To support the rural economy, he will transfer ₹105 crore in bonuses to milk suppliers in Uttar Pradesh associated with Banas Dairy.
In a post on X, PM Modi wrote:
“With the blessings of Baba Vishwanath, I have always been inspired to give a new impetus to development work in Varanasi. In this connection, tomorrow at around 11 am, I will have the privilege of inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of many projects related to roads, electricity, education and tourism here.”
Following his Varanasi visit, PM Modi will also travel to Anandpur Dham in Isagarh Tehsil, Ashoknagar district, Madhya Pradesh.
