As the release of Kesari Chapter 2 draws near, Akshay Kumar is ramping up excitement for the historical courtroom drama by offering fans a glimpse into the fierce spirit of C. Sankaran Nair, the man he portrays on screen.
The Sky Force actor, known for taking on patriotic roles, shared a powerful black-and-white collage on Instagram on Thursday. One half features the real-life C. Sankaran Nair, while the other shows Akshay as the legendary lawyer who challenged the British Empire in court following the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
“The mind of the South. The might of the North. Together, we fought. Together, we rose. Honoured to bring to life C. Sankaran Nair — who took the British Empire to court after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Sankaran Nair didn’t fight with a weapon; he fought with the law and fire in his soul,” Akshay captioned the striking image.
Fans flooded the comments with admiration, with one user writing, “Akki Pajji in a patriotic role is just…” while another added, “Ye movie dil ko chhune wali hai.”
Earlier this week, Akshay posted another teaser—a poster showing him dressed in a Kathakali costume. In the caption, he emphasized the deeper symbolism behind the attire:
“This is not a costume. It’s a symbol — of tradition, of resistance, of truth, of my nation. C. Sankaran Nair didn’t fight with a weapon. He fought the British Empire with the law — and with fire in his soul. This 18th APRIL, we bring you the court trial they never taught in textbooks. #KesariChapter2 #SankaranVsTheEmpire.”
The trailer, which dropped earlier this month, teases a gripping courtroom showdown and emotional depth. Alongside Akshay, the film also stars Ananya Panday as a passionate law student and R. Madhavan as Neville McKinley, presumably representing the British legal front.
The original Kesari (2019), starring Akshay and Parineeti Chopra, chronicled the heroic stand of 21 Sikh soldiers during the Battle of Saragarhi in 1897. Kesari Chapter 2 now shifts focus to the lesser-known but equally impactful legal rebellion led by Nair.
Set to release on April 18, Kesari Chapter 2 promises to shed light on a hidden chapter of India’s freedom struggle, blending patriotism, tradition, and justice in a powerful cinematic experience.
