Uttarakhand: CM Dhami Installs 66-Feet-High National Flag At Dehradun Under Smart City Project

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India]: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami installed a 66-foot-high national flag at Survey Chowk, Dehradun, as part of the Dehradun Smart City Project on Sunday.

CM Dhami inaugurated the large National Flag Memorial at EC Road, Dehradun, under the Smart City Project and also unveiled the main gate of Paltan Bazaar.

He stated that the National Flag Memorial at Survey Chowk aims to instill a sense of nationalism and patriotism.

The route connects key locations in Dehradun, including Rashtrapati Aashiyana, Raj Bhavan, the Chief Minister’s residence, the Uttarakhand Government Secretariat, and other significant institutions.

He expressed that establishing the National Flag Memorial at this location was intended to inspire feelings of patriotism and national pride among the public.

Earlier, CM Dhami gifted 130 new buses to the state for Diwali, adding BS-06 model buses to the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation’s fleet. The Chief Minister flagged off the new buses from ISBT Dehradun.

He noted that the modern buses would play a crucial role in strengthening the state’s transport system.

CM Dhami said, “Today, another important milestone in the state’s development is marked with the addition of 130 new buses to the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation fleet. These buses will provide passengers with a safe, convenient, and economical travel experience, while energising the state’s economic, social, and tourism sectors.”

He added that Uttarakhand’s geographical conditions are more challenging than those of other states, with many remote rural areas reliant on a robust transport network for essential services.

The Chief Minister emphasised that tourism forms the backbone of Uttarakhand’s economy. “In this context, an effective transport system is essential not only for passenger convenience but also for economic growth. Our commitment is to connect every corner of the state with a better road network and reliable transport services,” he stated.

He highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation. “Just a few years ago, our Transport Corporation was experiencing losses exceeding 500 crores. However, for the last three years, it has consistently been in profit,” he remarked.

He also commended the work of the Transport Corporation’s officers and employees.
