Balochistan [Pakistan]: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for seizing the Jaffar Express, taking 182 hostages and reportedly killing 20 Pakistani military personnel in an ongoing standoff.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the BLA asserted that their fighters had captured the Jaffar Express and were holding passengers for over six hours.
“After capturing the Jaffar Express, our fighters have taken 182 hostages. During this operation, an additional eight Pakistani military personnel were eliminated, bringing the total number of enemy casualties to over 20,” the BLA claimed.
Ongoing Confrontation with Pakistani Forces
The BLA stated that they are engaged in intense confrontations with the Pakistani Air Force, utilizing anti-aircraft artillery and claiming to have inflicted heavy losses on the security forces.
“Our fighters are continuously strengthening their positions, leading the operation and challenging the might of the Pakistani military,” the statement added.
The BLA also claimed that no members of their group had been injured or killed during the standoff.
Hostage Situation
The statement confirmed that the hostages are being held by the BLA’s Fidayeen unit, Majeed Brigade.
“Clear instructions have been issued to the Majeed Brigade: if the Pakistani military attempts to approach, all hostages will be executed, and the Fidayeen will continue their resistance until martyrdom without retreating,” the BLA warned.
