Chamoli (Uttarakhand) [India]:A total of 33 Border Roads Organisation (BRO) workers trapped under an avalanche near Mana village in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, have been successfully rescued, officials confirmed on Saturday. Rescue efforts are ongoing for 22 remaining workers who are still trapped.

Rescue Efforts Underway
State Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman provided an update on the situation, stating:
“33 workers have been rescued. Two of the 57 workers had gone on leave, so there were only 55 workers there.”
The rescue teams are working tirelessly to locate and evacuate the remaining personnel.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is continuously reviewing the rescue operations from his residence. He remains in constant contact with officials overseeing the rescue mission.

Amit Shah Assures Full Support
Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke with Chief Minister Dhami and top officials, assuring that the central government’s priority is the safe evacuation of all trapped workers.
“Spoke to Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Dhami ji, DG ITBP, and DG NDRF regarding the glacier burst in Chamoli, Uttarakhand. Our priority is to safely evacuate the people trapped in the accident,” Shah stated.
Rescue teams from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are actively involved in the operations.
