‘America’s Next Top Model’ Producer David St. John Passes Away At 56

Washington [US]: David St. John, a well-known producer best recognized for his work on America’s Next Top Model, has passed away at the age of 56. According to Variety, he died on December 19 in Seattle after a battle with pancreatic cancer, though his death was only recently announced.

Career and Contributions

St. John began his career at MTV, initially working as an assistant on TailDaters before rising to the role of story producer. He later became a key figure in America’s Next Top Model, serving as a co-executive producer for more than 100 episodes of the hit reality show.

His impact on the television industry was widely recognized, and many colleagues remembered him as a remarkable presence.

Drew Tappon, Head of Unscripted Development at the Oprah Winfrey Network, paid tribute to St. John, saying, “To be in David St. John’s orbit meant that you were witness to an astonishingly bright light… all the time. He made everything better. And he made YOU feel better. Simply put, he just made us all better.”

A Legacy Beyond Television

St. John also played a significant role in I Am Jazz, a show following the life of Jazz Jennings. Her family released a heartfelt statement, emphasizing his deep personal connection with them.

“David was more than just the executive producer of I Am Jazz—he was family, and we loved him deeply. In our most challenging moments, he lifted our spirits with his warmth, reassured us that everything would be okay, and gave us the strength to share our family’s journey. His kindness, infectious laughter, and unwavering belief in our story will forever be woven into the heart and legacy of I Am Jazz and remain a cherished part of our lives.”

Health Struggles and Advocacy

St. John faced several health challenges throughout his life. In addition to battling pancreatic cancer, he had previously undergone two brain surgeries to remove tumors. Despite these hardships, he dedicated time to volunteering and supporting other patients going through similar experiences.

Survived by Loved Ones

He is survived by his husband, Scott Darlington, his mother, Lynn, and his sisters, Corrine and Rachel. He also considered Kirsten and Karen Fenswick his sisters.
