Narayanpur (Chhattisgarh) [India]: A District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan sustained injuries in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast during a patrol operation in the forested area between Toymeta and Kawanar in Narayanpur district, an official confirmed on Friday.
Inspector General (IG) Bastar P Sundarraj stated, “The joint team of district force and DRG had departed from Chhotedongar police station when the explosion occurred around 1.45 pm on Friday.”
He further informed that the injured jawan was immediately evacuated for advanced medical treatment. Further details regarding the incident are awaited.
This attack follows a similar incident last week in Bijapur district, where a jawan from the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was injured in an IED blast during an area domination operation. The injured jawan, identified as Constable Arun Kumar Yadav, was evacuated to Bijapur and later referred to Raipur for advanced treatment. His condition is reported to be stable.
Earlier this month, Chhattisgarh Police reported another attack in which three security personnel—one CRPF soldier and two DRG soldiers—were injured due to an IED explosion and a spike hole trap, both triggered by Naxals.
The increasing frequency of such attacks highlights the persistent threat posed by Naxal insurgents in the region. Security forces continue to conduct combing and patrolling operations to counter their activities.
