Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Meets Vice President Dhankhar, Announces Key Decisions In First Cabinet Meeting

New Delhi [India], February 21: A day after taking office, Delhi’s newly appointed Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met with Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar at the Vice President’s Enclave on Friday.

The official social media account of the Vice President posted, “Smt. Rekha Gupta Ji, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, called on the Hon’ble Vice President, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, at Vice-President’s Enclave today.”

Meanwhile, in her first Cabinet meeting held on Thursday, CM Rekha Gupta announced significant decisions, including the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Delhi, and the tabling of 14 pending reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).

The CAG report highlighted a considerable revenue loss of Rs 2,026 crore due to irregularities in Delhi’s excise policy. It revealed several issues, including deviations from the policy’s goals, a lack of transparency in pricing, and unpenalized violations in issuing licenses. A substantial portion of the loss, Rs 890 crore, resulted from the government’s failure to re-tender licenses before the policy period expired, while exemptions granted to zonal licenses led to a loss of Rs 941 crore.

Congress leader Pawan Khera responded to the findings, drawing a comparison with CAG reports during the previous Congress government. He emphasized that CAG reports should be tabled in Parliament and not just in states where it suits the ruling party (BJP).

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed her commitment to fulfilling the promises made to the people, stating, “In our first Cabinet meeting, we discussed and passed two important agendas: the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Delhi, providing a Rs 5 lakh top-up, and the tabling of 14 CAG reports in the upcoming Assembly session.”

BJP MLA Vijender Gupta, who is also the BJP’s nominee for Delhi Assembly Speaker, confirmed that the CAG report will be tabled during the three-day Legislative Assembly session scheduled for February 25.
