Kyle Jamieson Replaces Lockie Ferguson In New Zealand Squad For ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025

Dubai [UAE], February 18: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that Kyle Jamieson has been approved as a replacement for Lockie Ferguson in the New Zealand squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025. The decision comes after Ferguson was ruled out due to a right foot injury.

Jamieson, the 30-year-old fast bowler, has played 13 ODIs and will now join the New Zealand squad for the tournament. The replacement requires approval from the Event Technical Committee, which has now been granted.

The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 is composed of Wasim Khan (ICC General Manager – Cricket), Sarah Edgar (ICC Senior Manager – Events), Usman Wahla (PCB Director – International Cricket Operations), and Shaun Pollock (Independent Representative).

New Zealand is set to begin their campaign against Pakistan in Karachi on February 19, followed by matches against Bangladesh (February 24 in Rawalpindi) and India (March 2 in Dubai). The team enters the tournament under the leadership of Mitchell Santner, with a blend of youth and experience.

The Kiwis have been in impressive form, having won three of their last four bilateral and tri-nation events. Since the end of the 2023 World Cup, they have won seven out of 11 ODIs, including a recent tri-nation series victory in Pakistan. This has provided them with momentum heading into the Champions Trophy.

With a team brimming with young talent, including rising stars like Rachin Ravindra, Glenn Phillips, and Will O’Rourke, New Zealand will look to capitalize on their good form. Despite the absence of veteran pacers Trent Boult and Tim Southee, the squad has a solid pace attack led by Matt Henry, who has 155 wickets in 87 ODIs.

New Zealand’s squad for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 is as follows: Mitchell Santner (c), Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Kyle Jamieson, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Will O’Rourke, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Nathan Smith, Kane Williamson, Will Young, Jacob Duffy.

With a mix of experienced players and young talents, New Zealand will be looking to make a strong impact in the tournament despite some key player absences.
