Manish Sisodia Concedes Defeat In Jangpura, BJP Poised To Form Government In Delhi

New Delhi [India], February 8 : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Manish Sisodia conceded defeat from the Jangpura constituency to BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah in the ongoing Delhi Assembly elections. Sisodia, speaking to the media, acknowledged the support he received from the people but accepted his loss by a margin of 600 votes.

“Party workers fought well; we all did hard work. People have supported us as well. But, I lost by 600 votes. I congratulate the candidate who won. I hope he will work for the constituency,” Sisodia said.

Current trends from the Election Commission show that the BJP is set to form the government in Delhi, marking a significant shift after 27 years. BJP is leading in 48 seats, while AAP trails with 22 seats. Congress has yet to open its account.

In an unexpected turn, several senior AAP leaders including party chief Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, and leader Satyendra Jain are all trailing in their respective constituencies.

Reacting to the trends, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said that the people of Delhi had chosen Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance model over Arvind Kejriwal’s. He described the contest as a battle between “good governance” and “bad governance.”

“The situation in Delhi—contaminated water, broken roads, poor sanitation, pollution in Yamuna, and much more—is a reflection of Kejriwal’s model of governance, which the people of Delhi have rejected,” Sachdeva remarked.

He further praised Modi’s governance, claiming it was one that the nation respected and was now embraced by the people of Delhi. The Delhi BJP Chief also remarked that prominent AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi, and Saurabh Bharadwaj, were set to lose due to their “betrayal” of the public.

“These are all faces of corruption. The people will not forgive them,” he added.

Polling for the 70-member Delhi Assembly was conducted on February 5, with a voter turnout of 60.54%.
