Gangster Joginder Gyong deported To India From Philippines

New Delhi [India]: Notorious gangster Joginder Gyong, wanted for criminal conspiracy and murder, has been deported from the Philippines via Bangkok to Delhi, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) confirmed.

The Global Operations Centre of the CBI played a key role in coordinating Gyong’s return. He was an Interpol Red Notice subject, and his deportation marks a significant success in India’s ongoing crackdown on fugitives abroad, the agency said in a statement.

Arrest and Criminal History

Gyong arrived in Delhi on February 1 and was immediately detained. He was later handed over to the Special Cell, Southern Range, Delhi Police for further legal action.

He is wanted by Haryana Police for his involvement in a criminal case (FIR No. 1337, dated 30.12.2017) in Panipat, related to murder and criminal conspiracy.

According to the CBI statement, Gyong planned and executed the murder of a victim whom he suspected of revealing the location and identity of his gangster brother, Surender Gyong, to the Haryana Police. Surender was later killed in a police encounter. In retaliation, Joginder Gyong allegedly orchestrated the victim’s murder.

The gangster has been implicated in multiple serious crimes across various Indian states and union territories, including Delhi. His criminal record includes:

  • Robbery
  • Murder
  • Attempt to murder
  • Extortion under the threat of death or grievous harm
  • Kidnapping for ransom

International Manhunt and Interpol’s Role

At the request of the Haryana Police, the CBI secured an Interpol Red Notice against Gyong on October 25, 2024, which was circulated globally to aid his capture. Acting on this notice, authorities in the Philippines detained and deported Gyong, facilitating his return to India.

The CBI, as the National Central Bureau for Interpol in India, closely coordinates with law enforcement agencies worldwide for tracking and extraditing wanted criminals. Since 2021, more than 100 fugitives have been returned to India through Interpol-led operations, the agency stated.

This successful deportation underscores India’s commitment to bringing fugitives to justice and strengthening global law enforcement cooperation.
