PM Modi’s choice of turban has always attracted attention, particularly during Republic Day celebrations. For this year’s event, he selected a striking multi-coloured turban featuring shades of red and yellow, which he paired with a brown bandhgala coat with full sleeves, accessorized with a multi-coloured pocket square and churidar pants.

Before joining the Republic Day celebrations at Kartavya Path, PM Modi paid his respects to fallen soldiers with a two-minute silence, honoring the brave personnel who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

This year’s Republic Day celebrations at Kartavya Path were attended by President Droupadi Murmu, Indonesia’s President H.E. Prabowo Subianto, and several other distinguished guests.

The Prime Minister’s attire, particularly his signature turban, is a symbol of patriotism and national pride. In his Republic Day message shared on social media, he wrote: “Happy Republic Day. Today, we celebrate 75 glorious years of being a Republic. We bow to all the great women and men who made our Constitution and ensured that our journey is rooted in democracy, dignity, and unity. May this occasion strengthen our efforts towards preserving the ideals of our Constitution and building a stronger, more prosperous India.”

Over the years, PM Modi’s choice of headgear has been a talking point. In 2024, for the 75th Republic Day, he wore a multi-coloured turban with vibrant yellow hues, paired with a white kurta and a brown Nehru jacket featuring a traditional Rajasthani Bandhini print. For the 74th Republic Day, he wore a multi-coloured Rajasthani turban, symbolizing India’s diversity.

Other notable turbans include the traditional cap from Uttarakhand for the 73rd Republic Day, a Jamnagar turban from Gujarat for the 72nd, and a bright saffron turban for the 71st Republic Day. Each of these headpieces has reflected the rich cultural diversity of India.

This year, as the nation celebrates its 76th Republic Day, PM Modi’s ensemble continues to honor India’s traditions and vibrant heritage.
