AAP’s Sanjay Singh Criticizes BJP And Election Commission Ahead Of Delhi Assembly Elections

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh launched a strong attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), asserting that the party would face a massive defeat in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Singh also criticized the Election Commission of India (ECI) for failing to ensure fair elections.

Speaking to media, Sanjay Singh said, “No matter how hard UP CM Yogi Adityanath, PM Modi try or they could even call US President Donald Trump to campaign, BJP will be wiped out in the Delhi elections.”

He accused BJP candidates of distributing goods openly in the New Delhi assembly constituency and questioned the Election Commission’s ability to maintain fair practices across the nation.
“Sometimes the BJP candidate distributes ‘chadar’, ‘lota’, ‘chashma’, shoes and money openly. The office of the Election Commission of India is in the New Delhi assembly constituency. When the Election Commission of India is not able to stop the discrepancies (happening in the New Delhi assembly constituency), how will it ensure fair elections in the nation?” Singh said.

Kejriwal’s Security Concerns

Singh also criticized the removal of Arvind Kejriwal’s Punjab Police security, alleging that the Delhi Police, under BJP’s influence, forcefully took action. He said:
“Delhi police forcefully removed the security being provided by Punjab Police (to Arvind Kejriwal) and in the area, various goons are carrying sticks and rods. The Election Commission of India should look into it and we are complaining to the Election Commission of India but they are not doing anything about it.”

Yogi Adityanath’s Counterattack

On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath targeted Kejriwal over Yamuna pollution, challenging him to emulate UP’s efforts to clean rivers. He also accused Kejriwal of enabling Aadhaar cards for Bangladeshi infiltrators and compared Delhi’s “piles of garbage” with Noida’s clean roads.

Allegations of Car Attack on Kejriwal

Arvind Kejriwal alleged that men associated with the opposition candidate attacked his car during a public meeting in Hari Nagar.
“Today in Hari Nagar, the police allowed the opposition candidate’s men to enter my public meeting and then attacked my car. All this is happening on Amit Shah’s orders. Amit Shah has made the Delhi Police the personal army of the BJP,” Kejriwal said on X.

He also criticized the Election Commission for failing to act on repeated attacks against him, stating:
“Big questions are being raised on the Election Commission that the national president of a national party and its leaders are being constantly attacked and the Election Commission is unable to take any effective action.”

Congress Alleges Vote-Buying

Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit accused both BJP and AAP of distributing money to sway voters. He mentioned that complaints have been registered with the Election Commission but no action has been taken.

Election Overview

The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for February 5, with votes set to be counted on February 8. A total of 699 candidates are contesting across 70 seats.

The AAP, which secured landslide victories in 2015 and 2020 with 67 and 62 seats, respectively, is seeking to maintain its dominance. Meanwhile, BJP aims to improve its standing after winning only 3 and 8 seats in the last two elections. Congress, once a major force with 15 years of uninterrupted rule in Delhi, is striving to make a comeback after failing to win any seats in recent elections.
