New Delhi, January 23: BJP leader Tarun Chugh responded sharply to Delhi Chief Minister Atishi’s recent accusations, calling her a “rubber stamp CM” and asserting that her party is not acknowledging her leadership or campaigning on her behalf.
“Rubber stamp CM Atishi has forgotten that her party is not even recognizing her tenure. Despite being the sitting CM, AAP is not seeking votes in her name. The party has failed and is mired in corruption. The people have already decided: it’s time for Kejriwal to go,” Chugh stated.
The remarks followed a letter by Atishi earlier in the day, in which she accused the Delhi Police of attempting to close a case involving alleged intimidation of AAP volunteers by BJP workers on January 21 and 22. In her letter to the Election Officer of Delhi, Atishi also demanded the transfer of certain police officials, alleging they were pressuring AAP volunteers to withdraw their complaints.
Atishi’s letter detailed how volunteers were allegedly contacted by police officials and coerced into signing false statements denying any violence or intimidation. The CM called for the immediate transfer of SHO Dharamveer, Inspector Sushil Sharma, and Constable Jai Bhagwan, claiming that these officers were pressuring volunteers to falsify statements and close the case.
In the letter, Atishi also mentioned that her volunteers were ready to provide written statements in the presence of their legal counsel, but were met with undue pressure and attempts to force them into signing incomplete or false documents.
