In 2021, the Government of India officially declared January 23 as Parakram Diwas to celebrate the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

This year, the Parakram Diwas celebrations will be held from January 23 to 25, 2025, in Cuttack, Odisha, the birthplace of Netaji. The three-day event will be inaugurated by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on January 23, 2025, and will honor the lasting legacy of Netaji on his 128th birth anniversary.

The commemorative events, starting from the first Parakram Diwas in 2021 at Victoria Memorial in Kolkata, include a hologram statue of Netaji at India Gate (2022), the naming of 21 islands after Param Vir Chakra awardees in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands (2023), and the inauguration of a major event by the Prime Minister at Red Fort (2024). This year, the celebrations continue in Cuttack, the city that shaped Netaji’s early life. The event will begin with a tribute to Netaji at his birthplace, which has been turned into a museum, followed by the hoisting of the National Flag by the Chief Minister of Odisha and other dignitaries.
