Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 22: The highly anticipated film Hisaab Barabar, starring R Madhavan, Rashmi Desai, Neil Nitin Mukesh, and Kirti Kulhari, is all set to tackle themes of corruption and systemic injustice.
R Madhavan discussed the film’s timely and thought-provoking themes, highlighting the growing issue of fraud using artificial intelligence. “This year, many of my films will be released,” Madhavan shared. “With the rise of fraud through AI, solving it is increasingly challenging. We want people to reflect on these complexities.”
Madhavan plays Radhe Mohan Sharma, a dedicated railway ticket checker whose life takes a dramatic turn after noticing a minor discrepancy in his bank account. This seemingly small issue leads to the revelation of a massive financial scam.
Rashmi Desai, portraying Monalisa, Radhe’s neighbor and caretaker to his son, described her character as both “irritating yet lovable” while adding that the film serves as an eye-opener, addressing critical societal issues.
Neil Nitin Mukesh, who plays Micky Mehta, a corrupt banker and scamster, praised the film’s impactful writing and direction. Reflecting on his decision to take the role, Neil said, “I was being offered many roles during Covid-19, but I wasn’t satisfied with the content. When producer Sharad Patel approached me with Hisaab Barabar, I was drawn to Ashwni Dhir’s exceptional script. The story of an ordinary man battling the system is presented in a comic yet powerful way.”
He also shared his appreciation for the complexity of his character, stating, “Even though Micky Mehta is a scamster, there’s an element of honesty in him that intrigued me.”
Kirti Kulhari, who plays a police officer investigating the financial fraud, spoke about the depth of her character. “My character is strong yet sensitive, and the story is set in Delhi. When the scams come to light, the case lands on my desk. Personally and professionally, my character interacts with Madhavan’s Radhe, and while there are differences, she keeps her personal and professional lives distinct, staying deeply connected to the narrative.”
Produced by Jio Studio in association with SP Cinecorp Production, Hisaab Barabar is directed by Ashwni Dhir and produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Sharad Patel, and Shreyanshi Patel.
The film is set to premiere on ZEE5 on January 24 and will be available for streaming in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
