Nita Ambani Shines In Traditional Indian Attire At Donald Trump’s Private Reception

Washington DC [US]: As global dignitaries gathered in Washington for President-Elect Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony, Nita Ambani, Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, captivated attention at a private reception on Saturday with her elegant tribute to Indian culture.

Nita Ambani wore a custom Kanchipuram silk saree, designed by Swadesh, featuring over 100 traditional motifs inspired by the temples of Kanchipuram. The saree was crafted by National Award-winning artisan B. Krishnamoorthy. Motifs such as the Iruthalaipakshi (double-headed eagle representing Lord Vishnu), Mayil (symbolizing divinity), and mythical Sorgavasal trails reflected India’s rich spiritual and historical heritage.

Adding a modern touch, the saree was paired with a velvet blouse designed by Manish Malhotra. The blouse featured a built-up neckline and intricate beadwork on the sleeve hems, blending tradition with contemporary sophistication.

Complementing the ensemble was a rare, 200-year-old parrot-shaped pendant crafted in Southern India. This piece, adorned with emeralds, rubies, diamonds, and pearls in the Kundan style, epitomized the beauty of Indian heritage.

In a statement, Reliance Foundation highlighted how the ensemble represented a celebration of Indian craftsmanship, bringing global attention to the timeless artistry of Indian artisans.

Earlier in the reception, Nita Ambani and Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, congratulated President-elect Trump and expressed optimism about strengthened India-US relations under his leadership. The Ambanis emphasized the opportunities for collaboration between the two nations during Trump’s second term.

The Ambanis will attend the inauguration ceremony at the US Capitol, where they will be seated among prominent dignitaries, including members of Trump’s Cabinet and elected officials. The couple arrived in Washington on January 18, participating in inaugural events such as a reception and fireworks display at the Trump National Golf Club in Virginia.
