Sandeep Dikshit Criticizes AAP’s 50% Metro Fare Concession Plan, Accuses Kejriwal Of ‘False Promises’

New Delhi [India], January 17 : Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit criticized AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s proposal to offer a 50% metro fare concession, calling it an “irresponsible” move.

In a statement, Dikshit questioned why AAP had not implemented such a concession earlier, despite making similar promises in the past. “Why didn’t they provide a 50% concession themselves?” he asked.

He accused the AAP government of attempting to deflect blame onto the central government, stating, “They want to appear as though they are willing to provide the concession, but will blame the Indian government for not cooperating.”

Dikshit also alleged that AAP was making empty promises without the financial backing to fulfill them. “They make false promises but lack the funds, and later they will blame the central government for not allowing them to carry out their plans,” he added.

These remarks come as Kejriwal reiterated his call for the metro concession, urging the Centre’s cooperation in implementing the proposal. Earlier today, Kejriwal highlighted his letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting a 50% concession for students using the Delhi Metro. Kejriwal emphasized that many students rely on the metro for daily commutes, and the financial burden on them must be alleviated. He proposed that the costs of the concession be shared equally between the Delhi government and the Centre.

Additionally, Kejriwal promised that if his party returns to power, all students in Delhi will travel for free on buses and receive a 50% discount on metro fares.
