New Delhi [India], January 15: Ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Jangpura, Manish Sisodia, launched a sharp criticism against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of contributing to the deteriorating law and order situation in the national capital.
Sisodia also labeled the BJP as the biggest threat to slum dwellers in Delhi, asserting that if the BJP comes to power, they would demolish all slums in the city.
“I am receiving immense support from the people of Jangpura. It’s a significant day for me. The BJP is responsible for poor law and order in Delhi — crimes like rapes, chain snatching, and gang wars. They have failed in managing the city’s law and order. So why should they be entrusted with our education and hospitals?” said Sisodia during his roadshow in Jangpura.
He continued, “Today, the BJP is the biggest danger to jhuggi clusters in Delhi. If they come to power, all jhuggis will be razed. We, on the other hand, are the ones who lie in front of bulldozers to prevent such actions.”
Meanwhile, AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal addressed the recent authorization by the Centre for the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to prosecute him and Sisodia in connection with the alleged liquor scam. Kejriwal remarked that the BJP was contesting the elections one way, while his party was approaching the elections in another manner.
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) recently cleared the ED to prosecute Kejriwal and Sisodia under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), in relation to their alleged involvement in money laundering linked to the controversial liquor policy for 2021-22, which has since been scrapped.
Sisodia is contesting against BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah and Congress’ Farhan Suri for the Jangpura seat. Delhi Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on February 5, with votes to be counted on February 8.
