New Delhi [India], January 15: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) successfully rescued 54 passengers, including 22 women and 23 children, from a missing boat in the Lakshadweep Union Territory. The boat, named Mohammad Kasim-II, was en route from Kavaratti to Suhelipar Island when it went missing.
Upon receiving a distress call from the Lakshadweep authorities, the ICG initiated a swift rescue operation. The boat was located using the Coastal Surveillance System, and at 4:00 PM, the ICG ship safely brought all 54 passengers back to Kavaratti.
“Responding to a distress call from the Lakshadweep Administration regarding the missing boat Mohammad Kasim-II with 54 persons onboard, the Indian Coast Guard swiftly launched a search and rescue operation. The boat was located, and all passengers were safely rescued,” the ICG confirmed in a post on X.
