Future Stars Shine At Petronas Twin Towers Ahead Of 2025 ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup

Kuala Lumpur [Malaysia], January 14: The captains of the 16 teams competing in the 2025 ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup gathered at the iconic Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur for the official Captains’ Day photoshoot, setting the stage for the upcoming tournament.

On a lively Tuesday morning, the team captains posed with the tournament trophy, sharing the excitement of the competition ahead. Defending champions India, along with hosts Malaysia, stood closest to the trophy, with the remaining teams positioned around them.

India’s captain, Niki Prasad, shared her determination to defend the title, drawing inspiration from her team’s victory two years ago.

“Meeting the other 15 captains was a great experience, and doing it in front of the iconic towers in Kuala Lumpur made it even more special,” said Prasad. “Looking at the trophy, I’m excited to take on the challenge and defend the title we won in 2023.”

For Samoa, making their tournament debut, captain Avetia Fetu Mapu expressed how surreal the experience of joining the other captains felt, making their qualification feel even more significant.

This event marks the only time all 16 captains will come together in one place, as the teams are soon set to head to different locations across Malaysia for the group stages, which begin on January 18.

Group C will compete in Sarawak, located on the island of Borneo, while Group B teams will play in Johor, near the Singapore border. Groups A and D will remain closer to Kuala Lumpur, playing at Bayuemas Oval and UKM Oval.

The tournament will feature 41 matches, with the top three teams from each group progressing to the Super Six stage. Points from the group stage matches against advancing teams will carry over, keeping the competition fierce as the top two teams from each Super Six group will move on to the semi-finals.
