Chandigarh [India], January 13: A cold wave and a thin layer of fog gripped Chandigarh on Monday morning, with temperatures dropping across northern India. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Chandigarh recorded a temperature of 18.4°C by 11:30 am, with the minimum expected to remain around 8°C and the maximum likely to reach 19°C.

The IMD recorded a minimum temperature of 9.6°C at Delhi’s Palam station and 9.4°C at Safdarjung.

The foggy conditions have caused significant delays at IGI Airport, with several flights being affected. Homeless people have been seeking shelter in night shelters as temperatures continue to plummet across the city.

In addition, foggy conditions led to disruptions in train schedules. Purushottam Express experienced the longest delay of 311 minutes, followed by Poorva Express at 198 minutes.
