California, USA, January 12 : On Friday, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, visited the World Central Kitchen in Pasadena to assist in distributing food and supplies to victims of the Eaton Fire. The couple spent time connecting with affected families, offering emotional support after hearing about their harrowing experiences during theLA wildfires according to People.
The Duke and Duchess also expressed their gratitude to first responders, including Los Angeles County firefighters and police. They later met with World Central Kitchen founder José Andrés at the food stations to commend the relief teams for their efforts.
In addition to their hands-on support, Meghan and Harry made monetary contributions and pledged to continue aiding recovery efforts. The Pasadena Mayor, Victor Grodo, lauded their visit, describing them as “very caring people” who went out of their way to meet with affected families in burned-out areas of Pasadena and Altadena. The couple, who have longstanding ties with World Central Kitchen through their Archewell Foundation, visited the center “anonymously” and served food with masks, so their presence initially went unnoticed.
The wildfires have had a significant impact on Hollywood, with several film premieres canceled and television production halted. Many celebrities, including Mandy Moore and Paris Hilton, have been affected, losing their homes to the fires. Pop star Britney Spears also shared an update on Instagram after evacuating her home due to the wildfires. She revealed she was driving four hours to a hotel for safety and expressed concern for others impacted by the devastating fires.
As of reports, at least 11 people have tragically lost their lives in the wildfire crisis in Southern California. Firefighters have managed to contain just 3% of the Eaton Fire, which is considered one of the top five most destructive wildfires in California’s history.
