Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], January 10: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan criticized the Congress party for its upcoming nationwide campaign, “Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan Abhiyan,” questioning how a party with a history of undermining the Constitution and sidelining Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s legacy could now claim to protect it.
The Congress party’s campaign, which is set to kick off with a rally at Mhow, the birthplace of Dr. Ambedkar, in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district on January 26, 2025, has sparked a political debate. Reacting to the campaign, CM Chouhan told reporters, “How can the Congress, which has a history of disrespecting the Constitution and doing injustice to Babasaheb Ambedkar, now claim to protect it? They must introspect. They did not confer the Bharat Ratna on Dr. Ambedkar, nor did they allow him to win elections. The public has not forgotten this.”
Meanwhile, senior Congress leaders held a meeting in Bhopal on Friday to prepare for the launch of the “Jai Samvidhan Abhiyan.” Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Jitu Patwari responded to the CM’s remarks, saying that the Congress party was ready to fight to protect the Constitution. He alleged that the legacy of Dr. Ambedkar was under threat due to a conspiracy by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
“Dr. Ambedkar’s Constitution is under threat. There is a deliberate conspiracy by the BJP to insult him,” Patwari said. “The Congress party played a crucial role in India’s independence and the establishment of fundamental rights through Dr. Ambedkar. Now, we are ready to do whatever it takes to save the Constitution. The campaign will begin in Mhow on January 26.”
Patwari also stressed the need to strengthen the Congress party’s organization, particularly in rural areas. “2025 will be the year to reinforce the party’s base, and our workers must engage with the public to serve as a strong opposition,” he added. “Even though elections are not imminent, we must prepare as if every year is an election year. We will continue to build a resilient organization that serves the people.”
