UP CM Yogi Adityanath Launches ‘Kumbhvani’ Radio Channel Amid Maha Kumbh Festivities

Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India]: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the radio channel ‘Kumbhvani,’ part of All India Radio’s Akashvani, during the Maha Kumbh festivities in Prayagraj on Friday.

Addressing the event, CM Adityanath highlighted the inclusive and unifying essence of the Maha Kumbh Mela, emphasizing that it dispels misconceptions about discrimination in Sanatan Dharma.

“Maha Kumbh is not just a (simple) event. It represents the Sanatan pride, a mega gathering. Anyone who wants to witness the glory of Sanatan Dharma should come here for the Kumbh. Those who see Sanatan Dharma in a narrow way and divide people by saying that there persists discrimination, should come and see that there is no discrimination on the basis of caste. There is no practice of untouchability. There is no discrimination on the basis of gender. All gather together to bathe in Sangam,” Adityanath said.

He praised Prasar Bharati’s efforts in launching ‘Kumbhvani,’ a dedicated radio channel for the Maha Kumbh. He noted the enduring importance of Akashvani despite the challenges posed by evolving media trends.

“Akashvani was the only medium we had to reach commoners and provide them with folk culture and tradition. I remember, during childhood, we used to listen to the lines from Ramcharitmanas which were broadcasted by Akashvani. With time, things changed and people shifted to visual mediums. However, Prasar Bharati managed to stay put despite these challenges, especially in areas where there are connectivity issues,” the CM remarked.

The event was attended by UP Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and other cabinet ministers.

On Thursday, CM Adityanath inaugurated a media center for Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj and reviewed the preparations for the grand event. Sharing his experience, he said his visit to two sectors lasted over four hours, during which he met religious leaders and assessed ongoing arrangements.

The Maha Kumbh, celebrated once every 12 years, is expected to draw over 45 crore devotees to Prayagraj, where they will take a holy dip at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. The event will culminate on February 26.

The main bathing rituals (Shahi Snan) are scheduled for January 14 (Makar Sankranti), January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), and February 3 (Basant Panchami).
