Haryana Minister Anil Vij Confident Of BJP Victory In Delhi Assembly Elections; AAP Responds

New Delhi [India]: Haryana Minister Anil Vij expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will emerge victorious in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections, following the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA)’s triumph in the recently concluded Haryana and Maharashtra assembly elections.

“Beginning with BJP victory in Haryana, the party won in Maharashtra, and now it’s time for Delhi… Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started the politics of development in the country,” Vij told media.

In response to a query, Vij also commented on the ongoing farmers’ protests, stating, “The farmers who are protesting are from AAP-ruled Punjab. AAP leaders have turned a deaf ear to their demands and issues… AAP is waiting for something bad to happen to the protesting farmers before it creates a big issue out of this.”

On the other hand, AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar characterized the upcoming election as a direct contest between AAP and BJP. “I think that in Delhi, the election is between BJP and AAP. BJP will do every negative politics to win – they will distribute cash, and will bring their ‘B teams’ – that’s the reason BSP and AIMIM are contesting in Delhi,” Kakkar told ANI.

The Delhi assembly polls are scheduled to be held in a single phase on February 5, with vote counting taking place on February 8. The BJP has been intensifying its campaign, with candidates targeting Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is facing legal trouble related to the Delhi excise policy case. The BJP expressed confidence in forming the next government in Delhi with its “double-engine” administration.

The BJP has also been vocal in accusing AAP leaders of corruption and misgovernance. Meanwhile, the AAP, which is aiming for a third consecutive term, is focusing on promoting its achievements in the education and healthcare sectors.

In the 2020 assembly elections, AAP won 62 out of 70 seats, while BJP secured only eight seats.
