Delhi LG Extends PM-UDAY Single-Window Camps Until March 2025

New Delhi [India]: Lt. Governor VK Saxena has directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to extend the single-window camps for the Pradhan Mantri-Unauthorised Colonies in Delhi Awas Adhikar Yojana (PM-UDAY) until March 2025. This decision follows an overwhelming public response to the camps, according to an official release.

Highlights of the Camps

  • Duration: The camps, which commenced on November 30, ran over eight weekends until December 22.
  • Attendance: A total of 19,313 applicants participated, with 3,599 new registrations.
  • Key Deliverables:
    • 1,152 Conveyance Deeds/Authorization Slips were issued.
    • 283 properties were officially registered by Sub-Registrars, granting ownership rights.

The camps were equipped with officials from the DDA, Revenue Department, and other agencies, alongside Sub-Registrars, to facilitate seamless issuance of deeds and final property registration on-site.

Boost to PM-UDAY Scheme

The PM-UDAY Scheme, launched to regularize unauthorized colonies in Delhi by providing ownership rights, has gained significant traction. The scheme’s success has been attributed to the DDA’s proactive public outreach under the supervision of LG VK Saxena.

According to the official release, Saxena has been closely monitoring the scheme’s progress and addressing challenges such as:

  • Red tape
  • Accessibility issues
  • Harassment of beneficiaries
  • Revenue Department inefficiencies

Door-to-Door Outreach

In November, during a review of the scheme, LG Saxena directed the DDA to organize special camps in unauthorized colonies. The objective was to ensure maximum public participation through a door-to-door campaign and streamline the process of granting ownership rights.

Future Plans

The extension of the single-window camps until March 2025 is expected to:

  • Facilitate a larger number of applicants.
  • Enhance public trust and engagement.
  • Expedite the regularization of unauthorized colonies, providing thousands of residents with legitimate ownership rights.

The move underscores the government’s commitment to making the PM-UDAY Scheme a transformative success for the residents of Delhi.
