BJP To Protest Congress Convention In Belagavi On December 27: Vijayendra

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], December 26: Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President BY Vijayendra announced on Thursday that the party will stage a protest on December 27 in Bengaluru against the Congress convention being held in Belagavi.

Speaking at a press conference, Vijayendra criticized the Congress for conducting the convention using taxpayer money from Karnataka. “The BJP will protest in Bengaluru on Friday against the Congress convention in Belagavi. The convention is being organized with the tax money of the people of Karnataka,” he stated. The protest will be held near the Gandhi statue at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had earlier explained the reason for holding the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Belagavi. He said the convention was organized to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1924 Congress session. “This convention is being held here to mark 100 years of the 1924 Congress session. The AICC decided to hold the CWC meeting in Karnataka under the chairmanship of Mallikarjun Kharge,” he said.

Meanwhile, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, arrived in Belagavi to attend the two-day meeting. Congress leader Sowmya Reddy, who also arrived in Belagavi, expressed her pride in the Mahila Congress’s participation in the event. “It is a proud moment for all of us in the Mahila Congress to be here. The Congress party has always prioritized women. We are the ones who implemented 33% reservation for women at the gram panchayat level. It is a privilege to be a part of this historic event,” Reddy said.
