Vijayawada District Administration Uses QR Code Technology To Reunite Missing Children With Parents

In a successful application of technology, the Vijayawada District Administration reunited 10 missing children with their parents during the Bhawani Deeksha Viramana event using QR code-enabled wristbands for children under five years old.

QR Code Wristbands for Child Safety

As part of the safety measures during the event, the district administration implemented a system where children under five were given wristbands containing a QR code. The wristband contained the child and parent’s details, including their mobile numbers, which were stored in a server. This initiative was aimed at tracking missing children in the crowd.

Around 60 teams from the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) department were deployed at key locations like railway stations, bus stations, and city entry points. Their responsibility was to ensure every child entering the city received a wristband. In case a child got lost, anyone who found them could scan the QR code on the wristband to access the parent’s contact information and directly reunite the child with their family.

In total, 12,000 children were tagged during the five-day event. Thanks to the effort, 10 missing children were successfully located and returned to their parents by the duty police.

Chandrababu Naidu Advocates for Employment of Educated Women

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the importance of providing employment opportunities for educated women, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas. Speaking at a review meeting at the State Secretariat on Tuesday, he suggested that work-from-home and co-working spaces could be key in utilizing human resources more effectively.

He urged officials to provide proper training to educated women in these areas, enabling them to take advantage of remote work and co-working opportunities. “Educated women should not remain confined to their homes; co-working centers and work-from-home systems offer massive employment opportunities,” Naidu said.
