CM Atishi Inaugurates Anand Vihar-Apsara Border Flyover, Addresses Traffic Relief And Welfare Scheme Controversy

To alleviate the daily traffic woes in East and North East Delhi, Chief Minister Atishi inaugurated a new flyover connecting Anand Vihar to Apsara Border on Wednesday. The infrastructure development promises to bring substantial relief to lakhs of commuters by reducing travel time and easing congestion.

“Improved Connectivity for Residents and Travellers”
Highlighting the benefits of the newly opened flyover, Atishi emphasized its potential to bypass three major traffic signals, drastically cutting down commute times.

“Today, the flyover between Anand Vihar and Apsara Border has been inaugurated. This area is one of the most traffic-congested in East and North East Delhi. During peak traffic hours, it used to take hours to cross through here, causing constant problems for people living and working here,” Atishi stated.

She added, “This flyover will solve the traffic congestion problem in the entire area. It will save time for the people, reduce fuel consumption, and cut down on carbon dioxide emissions that contribute to air pollution in our city.”

The flyover, part of the Delhi government’s ongoing efforts to enhance urban infrastructure, is expected to benefit both residents and businesses in the area.

Allegations Over Welfare Scheme Notices
In addition to discussing the new flyover, Atishi addressed recent controversies surrounding welfare schemes announced by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ahead of the 2025 assembly elections.

Responding to notices published by the Delhi government’s Women and Child Development (WCD) department stating that the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana’ had not been officially notified, Atishi called the allegations baseless and accused the BJP of political interference.

“The notices issued in newspapers today are incorrect. The BJP, by putting pressure on a few officers, got this notice published. Administrative and police action will be taken against these officers. The information that the Mahila Samman Yojana has been notified by the Delhi Cabinet is in the public domain,” Atishi said.

She further alleged that the BJP was attempting to sabotage popular initiatives such as the free bus service for women in Delhi. “Arvind ji has said we have credible information that to stop free bus service for women in Delhi, an attempt is being made (by BJP) to impose a fake case on me. Even if they arrest me, I have faith in the legal system and the Constitution,” she asserted.

Clarifications from the WCD Department
The controversy follows a clarification issued by the WCD department, stating that the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana,’ a key promise by the AAP ahead of the elections, had not yet been officially notified.

Despite the ongoing political tensions, the Delhi government remains steadfast in promoting welfare initiatives and infrastructure development, with the newly inaugurated flyover standing as a testament to their commitment.

Looking Ahead
With assembly elections approaching in 2025, the political climate in Delhi is heating up. While the AAP government pushes forward with its infrastructure and welfare programs, the BJP’s criticism continues to highlight the competing narratives between the two major political forces in the capital.
