Albanian PM Calls For Two-State Solution, Condemns Hamas’ Role In Israel-Palestine Conflict

Jerusalem [Israel]: Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama reaffirmed Albania’s support for a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict while condemning the role of Hamas, stating that “no lasting solution is possible as long as Hamas is part of the equation.”

Speaking during the annual end-of-year dinner with the diplomatic corps accredited in Albania, Rama expressed hope for peace in the region.

“I truly hope that the new year will bring peace between Israel and Palestine, bringing an end to the endless suffering of the people in Gaza and to the horrific ordeal of the hostages still held in the dark, medieval dungeons of Hamas,” Rama said.

He emphasized Albania’s position on the conflict, stating, “Albania firmly believes in a two-state solution, but no lasting solution is possible as long as Hamas is part of the equation.”

Rama further criticized Hamas, comparing attempts to achieve peace under their influence to post-World War II efforts involving Nazi forces. “Waiting for peace under their influence would be as naive as trying to build post-World War II Europe alongside SS battalions,” he remarked.

Rama’s comments underscore Albania’s alignment with the international community advocating for peace between Israelis and Palestinians while rejecting the influence of militant groups like Hamas in negotiations.
