Trump Announces Key Nominations For Ambassadors And Latin America Envoy

Washington DC [US]: US President-elect Donald Trump has unveiled several significant appointments for his forthcoming administration, including nominations for US Ambassadors to Portugal and Malta, as well as a Special Envoy for Latin America.

The announcements were made on Wednesday through posts on his social media platform, Truth Social.

In one post, Trump stated, “It is my great honor to announce that John Arrigo will serve as the next United States Ambassador to Portugal.”

Trump lauded Arrigo’s qualifications, describing him as “a highly successful entrepreneur in the automotive industry, and a champion golfer.” He added, “For over thirty years, he has been an incredible leader in business in West Palm Beach, and is respected by all. I have known John for a long time. He will do an incredible job for our Country, and always put America FIRST.”

Arrigo, currently the vice president of the Arrigo Auto Group in West Palm Beach, Florida, has been a longtime associate of Trump, with frequent interactions at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, according to reports from The Hill.

In another announcement, Trump revealed Somers Farkas as the US Ambassador to Malta. “I am pleased to announce that Somers Farkas will serve as the next United States Ambassador to the Republic of Malta,” he shared on Truth Social.

Detailing Farkas’ extensive accomplishments, Trump highlighted her diverse roles as “a model, philanthropist, documentary producer, and very successful businesswoman.” He noted her previous contributions to the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships and her philanthropic work, which includes raising millions for organizations such as the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the Alzheimer’s Association, and the New York City Police Foundation. Trump emphasized her commitment to law enforcement, stating she has always “BACKED THE BLUE.”

Additionally, Trump has appointed Mauricio Claver-Carone as the State Department’s Special Envoy for Latin America. Claver-Carone’s new role is expected to prioritize America’s interests in the region and address critical challenges, including “dire threats we face from illegal mass migration and fentanyl.”

These appointments signal Trump’s focus on placing trusted allies in key diplomatic and strategic positions as he prepares for his second term.
