Patna (Bihar) [India], December 25: Union Minister of State Nityanand Rai lauded the appointment of Arif Mohammed Khan as the new Governor of Bihar, describing him as highly educated and compassionate, particularly towards the poor, backward, and deprived communities.
“The position of Governor is a highly respected one, and Arif Sahab is well-educated, deeply caring for the underprivileged, and respects the Constitution. Bihar has gained an excellent Governor. The previous Governor was also very good,” Rai said.
On Tuesday, President Droupadi Murmu also appointed former Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla as the new Governor of Manipur, replacing Lakshman Prasad Acharya. This move comes amid ongoing tensions between the Meitei and Kuki communities in Manipur.
Additionally, Hari Babu Kambhampati, the Governor of Mizoram, was reassigned to Odisha, following the resignation of Raghubar Das. Kambhampati will soon be replaced by retired General Vijay Kumar Singh, former Minister of State for Civil Aviation, who will take oath as the new Governor of Mizoram.
As part of the reshuffle, Arif Mohammed Khan has been appointed as the new Governor of Bihar, while Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar will replace him as Governor of Kerala. These appointments will take effect once the respective governors assume their duties.
