In a post on X, the Prime Minister shared highlights from a Christmas program at the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI), writing, “Wishing you all a Merry Christmas. May the teachings of Lord Jesus Christ show everyone the path of peace and prosperity.” He also added, “Here are highlights from the Christmas programme at CBCI.”
President Droupadi Murmu also conveyed her Christmas wishes to the people, stating, “Merry Christmas to all! This special day reminds us of Jesus Christ’s timeless teachings of love, kindness, and compassion.” She encouraged the nation to “strive to spread happiness, promote equality, and foster the spirit of unity in society” on this joyous occasion.
Earlier this week, on Monday, Prime Minister Modi attended a Christmas program at the headquarters of the Catholic Church in India. During the visit, he interacted with prominent leaders of the Christian community, including cardinals and bishops. This marked the first time a Prime Minister attended such an event at the Church’s headquarters in India.
As the nation celebrated Christmas, cities across India were lit up in festive cheer on Tuesday night. Churches and markets were adorned with vibrant lights, sparkling stars, and beautifully arranged Christmas cribs, adding to the holiday spirit. People came together to celebrate, with churches drawing large crowds for prayers and reflection, and markets bustling with activity as people shopped for Christmas trees, gifts, and festive treats.
In Kerala’s Ernakulam, the St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral was beautifully decorated with lights, stars, and Christmas cribs. Devotees gathered to sing hymns and carols, creating a magical atmosphere that filled the air with festive joy.
