The boy injured in the tragic Sandhya Theatre incident during the Pushpa 2 premiere has shown signs of recovery after 20 days, his father Bhaskar confirmed on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media, Bhaskar expressed gratitude for the support they have received. “The child responded after 20 days… he is responding today. Allu Arjun and the Telangana government are supporting us,” he said.
Incident Overview and Support Initiatives
The incident occurred on December 4 during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. A massive crowd gathered to see actor Allu Arjun, leading to chaos when the actor waved to fans from the sunroof of his car. Tragically, a woman named Revathi lost her life, and her child, Sri Tej, sustained injuries.
Earlier in the day, Allu Arjun was questioned by Hyderabad police regarding the events that led to the tragedy. Following the incident, he was arrested and released on bail after furnishing a Rs 50,000 bond.
Producers of Pushpa 2, Naveen Yerneni and Ravi Shankar, extended support to the family by handing over a Rs 50 lakh cheque to Revathi’s family. The presentation was made at KIMS Hospital in the presence of Telangana Minister for Roads & Buildings and Cinematography, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy.
Producer Naveen Yerneni expressed his condolences:
“This is a very unfortunate incident. Revathi’s death is a significant loss for the family. We visited the boy in the hospital, and he is recovering. The doctors are doing their best. We want to support the family, and this cheque is part of that effort.”
Political Controversy and Safety Concerns
The incident has sparked political debate, with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy holding Allu Arjun accountable for the tragedy. Speaking in the Assembly, Reddy disclosed that the police had denied permission for the event due to safety concerns.
“On December 2, Sandhya Theatre owners requested arrangements for the cast and crew of Pushpa 2 to attend the premiere. However, on December 3, the Chikkadpally Circle Inspector rejected the request in writing, citing the theatre’s location in a congested area with only one entry and exit point, making it difficult to ensure safety. Despite this, the actor attended the event, climbed onto his car roof, and conducted a roadshow, worsening the situation,” Reddy stated.
