Christopher Nolan’s Next Film To Be An Epic Adaptation Of Homer’s ‘The Odyssey’

Washington [US], December 24: Christopher Nolan fans can now rejoice as Universal Studios has officially announced that the acclaimed director will adapt Homer’s timeless epic, The Odyssey, for his next film. Slated for release on July 17, 2026, the film is being described as a “mythic action epic” and will be shot around the world using cutting-edge IMAX film technology.

In a statement shared by Universal, the studio revealed, “Christopher Nolan’s next film, The Odyssey, is a mythic action epic, shot across the world with brand-new IMAX film technology.” This marks the first time Homer’s legendary tale will be brought to the big screen in IMAX.

The film will feature a star-studded ensemble cast, including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway, and Charlize Theron. Known for his work on historical and science fiction films like Oppenheimer, Inception, and Interstellar, Nolan’s latest project marks a departure into ancient mythology. The story will follow the hero Odysseus as he encounters gods, monsters, and countless challenges in his quest to return home after the Trojan War.

While The Odyssey has been adapted numerous times before, including the 1954 film Ulysses starring Kirk Douglas and the Coen brothers’ O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), Nolan’s version promises to deliver his signature blend of realism and visionary storytelling to the ancient myth.

The announcement of Nolan’s new project follows a remarkable year for the director, whose film Oppenheimer earned him Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Director. Additionally, Nolan was recently knighted by King Charles, marking another milestone in his illustrious career.
