Los Angeles [US]: The popular anime series Dan Da Dan is set to return for its highly anticipated second season in July 2025. As reported by Variety, the second season will continue the blend of supernatural action and romantic comedy elements that has captivated fans.
The animation studio Science SARU, which also worked on Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, revealed a new key visual for the upcoming season. The artwork focuses on the character Jiji, who is seen under the watchful gaze of the mysterious Evil Eye. The image also incorporates portraits of classical composers and a kaiju, suggesting the inclusion of new supernatural themes in the storyline.
Based on the manga by Yukinobu Tatsu, which is published in Shonen Jump Plus, Dan Da Dan follows the story of Momo, a high school girl from a family of spirit mediums, and Okarun, a high school boy obsessed with the occult. The two bond after Momo rescues Okarun from bullies, but a dispute arises between them: Momo believes in ghosts but denies the existence of aliens, while Okarun believes in aliens but refuses to acknowledge ghosts. Their rivalry escalates as they become embroiled in supernatural and paranormal encounters, gaining extraordinary powers in the process.
Fuga Yamashiro is directing the series, with Chainsaw Man composer Kensuke Ushio providing the score. Tatsu, who previously worked as an assistant to Tatsuki Fujimoto on Chainsaw Man and Fire Punch, is the creator of Dan Da Dan.
Fans can look forward to the second season in July 2025, promising more supernatural adventures and thrilling developments.
