US Imposes Sanctions On Four Entities Supporting Pakistan’s Ballistic Missile Program

Washington DC [US]: The United States has sanctioned four entities for their involvement in Pakistan’s ballistic missile program, citing concerns over the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, according to a statement released by the State Department.

State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller announced the move on Wednesday, emphasizing Washington’s consistent position on the matter.

In a post on X, Miller stated, “Today, the United States is designating four entities that are contributing to Pakistan’s ballistic missile program. We have been clear and consistent about our concerns, and we will continue to engage constructively with Pakistan on these issues.”

The sanctions, imposed under Executive Order (E.O.) 13382, target individuals and entities associated with the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their delivery mechanisms.

The designated entities include:

  1. National Development Complex (NDC): Based in Islamabad, NDC is responsible for advancing Pakistan’s ballistic missile capabilities, including the SHAHEEN-series missiles. The complex has procured special vehicle chassis and testing equipment to support its long-range missile program.
  2. Akhtar and Sons Private Limited: Located in Karachi, this company has supplied a variety of equipment to NDC for use in Pakistan’s missile development projects.
  3. Affiliates International: Also based in Karachi, this entity has facilitated the procurement of missile-related items for NDC and other components of Pakistan’s ballistic missile program.
  4. Rockside Enterprise: Another Karachi-based company, it has provided equipment to NDC in support of Pakistan’s long-range ballistic missile initiatives.

The statement elaborated on the rationale for the sanctions, highlighting the entities’ roles in advancing Pakistan’s missile program.

“In light of the continuing proliferation threat of Pakistan’s long-range missile development, the United States is designating these entities for sanctions pursuant to E.O. 13382,” the statement read.

The US reiterated its commitment to countering global proliferation threats. “The United States will continue to act against proliferation and associated procurement activities of concern,” the statement concluded.
