Acclaimed actress Diane Delano, best known for her memorable roles in Northern Exposure and Popular, has passed away at the age of 67. Her agent, Dennis Sevier, confirmed that Delano died at her home in Los Angeles on December 13 following a brief illness. The official cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
Sevier paid tribute to Delano, stating: “When Diane entered any room, you knew she was there! She was full of life and loved being an actor. She will be missed.”
Delano, widely recognized for her portrayal of Sergeant Barbara Semanski in the hit CBS series Northern Exposure (1990–1995), captured hearts with her commanding presence and unique charm. She was also well-loved for her role as Roberta “Bobbi” Glass on The WB series Popular.
Her expansive career included appearances in popular television shows such as Days of Our Lives, St. Elsewhere, L.A. Law, and Perfect Strangers. In film, Delano was known for her work in The Wicker Man.
Beyond on-screen roles, Delano also showcased her versatility as a voice actor in animated hits like Teen Titans and Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
A decorated performer, Delano received an Indie Series Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Fumbling Through Pieces. In 2019, her work in Relish earned her the Best Ensemble Prize at the Los Angeles Film Awards.
Her final project was the bluegrass musical comedy Paradise: A Town of Sinners and Saints, released in May 2023.
