Nicole Kidman Reveals Why She Considered Quitting Acting

Washington [US], December 17: Nicole Kidman, who recently received her 20th Golden Globe nomination for Babygirl in the Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama) category, revealed that she once thought about retiring from acting after the birth of her daughter, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, in 2008.

In a recent interview, Kidman shared, “When I gave birth to Sunday, I was like, ‘I think I’m pretty much done now.'” At the time, she and her husband, Keith Urban, had moved to a farm in Nashville, and Kidman felt ready to step away from her career.

However, her mother, Janelle Kidman, encouraged her to keep a connection to her work. “My mum said, ‘I wouldn’t give up completely. Keep a finger in it,'” Kidman recalled. Her mother’s advice helped her find a balance between family life and her career, even as she raised her children, including Sunday Rose, Faith Margaret (13), and her two older children, Bella (31) and Connor (29), from her marriage to Tom Cruise.

Kidman also spoke warmly about her love for motherhood, sharing, “I would’ve loved 10 kids. But that’s OK because I get to mother other children. I have six nieces and nephews and I’m godmother to 12.” She expressed her joy in nurturing children, describing them as “quirky, funny, and unfiltered,” and cherishing the opportunity to watch them grow.

Currently, Kidman is receiving praise for her role in Babygirl, which premieres in theaters on December 25. The film has already earned her the prestigious Volpi Cup for Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival and recently won the National Board of Review’s NBR Award for Best Actress.
