Opposition MPs Stage Protest In Parliament Over Atrocities Against Hindus In Bangladesh

New Delhi [India], December 17: Several Opposition MPs, including Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, staged a protest inside Parliament premises on Monday, raising concerns over alleged atrocities against Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh.

The MPs carried placards and tote bags with messages demanding justice and condemning the persecution of minorities across the border. Priyanka Gandhi was seen with a tote bag displaying the slogan “Bangladesh ke Hindu aur Isaayion ke saath khadey ho” (Stand with Hindus and Christians of Bangladesh).

Chanting slogans like “We want Justice” and “Bharat Sarkar Jawab Do,” the MPs urged the Indian government to take immediate action on the issue. This protest marked a shift in the Opposition’s stance, which has traditionally focused on the treatment of Muslims, now extending its concern to the plight of Hindus and other minorities.

In response to the protest, Union Minister of State for Education Sukanta Majumdar expressed surprise, commenting that the Opposition had always focused on Muslims and now appeared to be addressing the issues of Hindus. He attributed this shift to what he called “Modi magic.”

The protest comes after Priyanka Gandhi Vadra faced criticism from the BJP for carrying a bag with “Palestine” written on it. Reacting to the BJP’s accusations of appeasement, Priyanka Gandhi dismissed the comments as “useless” and called on the government to take action on the alleged atrocities against Hindus and minorities in Bangladesh, instead of focusing on “rubbish” issues.
