PM Modi To Lead National Conference Of Chief Secretaries Today

New Delhi [India], December 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the concluding day of the fourth National Conference of Chief Secretaries in Delhi on Sunday. The three-day conference, taking place from December 13 to 15, 2024, will focus on developing and implementing a common development agenda and blueprint to foster cohesive action in collaboration with the states.

This conference aims to strengthen the partnership between the Centre and state governments, marking a significant step toward collaborative growth. The discussions will center on harnessing India’s demographic dividend through entrepreneurship, enhancing skill development initiatives, and creating sustainable employment opportunities for both rural and urban populations.

The theme of the fourth conference is “Promoting Entrepreneurship, Employment & Skilling – Leveraging the Demographic Dividend,” highlighting best practices and strategies for states and union territories. Key focus areas will include manufacturing, services, rural non-farm sectors, urban development, renewable energy, and the circular economy.

Four special sessions will explore topics such as Frontier Technology for Viksit Bharat, Developing Cities as Economic Growth Hubs, Economic Reforms in States for Investment, and Capacity Building through Mission Karmayogi. Additionally, focused discussions will be held on Atmanirbharata in Agriculture (Edible Oils and Pulses), the Care Economy for the Ageing Population, PM Surya Ghar (Free Electricity Scheme) implementation, and Bharatiya Gyan Parampara.

Best practices from various states and union territories will be showcased to encourage cross-learning. Chief Secretaries, senior officials from all states and union territories, and domain experts will participate in the event.

The Chief Secretaries Conference is driven by Prime Minister Modi’s vision of strengthening cooperative federalism, ensuring better coordination between the Centre and the states for faster growth and development. The conference has been held annually since 2022, with the first conference taking place in Dharamshala, followed by the second and third conferences in New Delhi in January and December 2023, respectively.
