New Delhi [India], December 14: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to chair a high-level security meeting in New Delhi on December 19, with a primary focus on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, according to official sources. The meeting will be attended by key officials, including Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Director General of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), the Chief Secretary, and the Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir, among other senior officials.
This upcoming meeting will review strategies for maintaining peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir, and it follows a similar high-level security review meeting chaired by Shah in June. The discussion is expected to reinforce the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government’s commitment to tackling terrorism and ensuring security in the region.
In previous meetings, Shah had directed security forces to replicate the successful strategies used in Kashmir, such as area domination plans and counterterrorism initiatives, in the Jammu division. He emphasized the need for quick, coordinated responses from all security agencies and seamless coordination in addressing security challenges. Shah has repeatedly reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism, asserting that no effort will be spared in eradicating terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir.
