Jairam Ramesh Alleges Partiality By Rajya Sabha Chairman, Claims LoP Not Allowed To Speak

New Delhi [India], December 12: Congress MP Jairam Ramesh on Thursday accused the Rajya Sabha Chairman of biased behavior and undermining the opposition in Parliament. Ramesh criticized the treatment of opposition voices, especially the Leader of the Opposition (LoP), during recent sessions.

Ramesh expressed dissatisfaction over the Leader of the Opposition not being allowed to speak, calling it an insult to both the LoP and the Congress party. He highlighted what he described as a double standard in the Chairman’s conduct, saying that when the opposition raises issues, the Chairman refuses to put them on record, but when the ruling party speaks, it is recorded.

Condemning the lack of impartiality, Ramesh accused the ruling party of trying to silence the opposition while allowing its own MPs to speak freely. He also alleged that the ruling party was attempting to divert attention from the Adani issue by making baseless claims about George Soros. “We want Parliament to function,” Ramesh stated.

Congress MP Syed Naseer Hussain further claimed that Congress MPs were being prevented from raising people’s issues, with their notices being ignored. He said that the no-confidence motion had been brought to address these concerns and that Congress would present its views during the upcoming discussions.

Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha Leader of the House JP Nadda accused the Congress of hurting the democratic process by obstructing the functioning of Parliament. Nadda reiterated that the Congress party was trying to delay important issues and divert attention from the Adani controversy. He also raised questions about Congress’s relationship with George Soros, vowing to take the issue to the public.
