Congress MP Imran Pratapgarhi Submits Adjournment Motion Notice Under Rule 267

New Delhi [India], December 11: Congress MP Imran Pratapgarhi on Wednesday submitted an adjournment notice under Rule 267 in the Rajya Sabha, seeking an immediate discussion on the rising incidents of violent communal attacks against the Muslim community across the country.

In his notice, Pratapgarhi pointed to a series of communal incidents from Sambhal to Ratlam, highlighting that in some cases the administration has taken unilateral action, while in others, the BJP has been involved. He accused the government of remaining silent in the face of this oppression.

Pratapgarhi’s notice read: “There is open oppression by organizations affiliated with the ruling party. Governments that have sworn to uphold the Constitution are turning a blind eye to the suffering of their citizens. Therefore, I request that a comprehensive discussion be allowed by adjourning all other business in the Upper House.”

This move follows another notice by AAP leader Sanjay Singh on December 10, who sought a suspension of business in the Rajya Sabha to discuss the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi, particularly the rise in crime and threats to public representatives.

Singh’s notice raised concerns about the increasing criminal activities in the national capital, citing the recent bomb blast in Prashant Vihar, a threatening email sent to a school in Rohini, and the brutal murder of a child in Shalimar Bagh. He also mentioned the growing incidents of bomb threats to schools and the daylight murder of a businessman in Shahdara.

Additionally, Singh referred to the alleged attack on former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal during his padyatra on November 30, 2024, which he said highlighted serious security lapses in the city. He requested a discussion on the matter under Rule 267 and also submitted a zero-hour notice to address the ongoing farmers’ protests and their demands.
