New Delhi, December 11: Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra met the victims of the Sambhal violence at Sonia Gandhi’s residence on Tuesday, condemning the incident as a consequence of “BJP’s hate politics” and vowing to fight for justice.
“Today, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi met the victims of the Sambhal violence. This incident is a grim outcome of the BJP’s politics of hate, which is fatal for a peaceful society,” the Congress party posted on X. “We stand with the victims and pledge to fight for justice through love and brotherhood.”
Interaction with Victims
Congress MP Imran Masood highlighted that Rahul Gandhi patiently listened to the victims’ grievances and assured them of unwavering support. “Rahul ji assured the victims that he is always with them and will help them in any way needed,” Masood said.
Congress leader Pradeep Narwal added that both Rahul and Priyanka spent over an hour with the victims’ families, who shared their pain and struggles. “Eleven members from the affected families were present during the meeting. Rahul ji and Priyanka ji have assured them of continued support,” Narwal stated.
Narwal also criticized the government’s role in the violence, labeling it as “murders by the government.” He reiterated the Congress party’s commitment to stand with the victims in their pursuit of justice.
Congress Leaders Previously Blocked
On December 4, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and other Congress leaders were stopped by police at the Ghazipur border while attempting to visit Sambhal. The incident has sparked accusations of government suppression from the Congress party.
Details of the Sambhal Violence
The violence in Sambhal erupted on November 24 during an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) examination of a Mughal-era mosque. Clashes between locals and police resulted in four fatalities and multiple injuries. The incident has heightened tensions and drawn national attention to the handling of sensitive historical sites and communal harmony.
